The Beta realms were updated and we can take a sneak peak into the Pet Battles system.
Well, there are no true battles, but we can lay with the UI for a bit.

We have the possibility to track wild pets on the world map. When you activate the tracking, you'll see orange rabbits on the minimap if there are any wild pets around you.

After you find a Wild Pet you'll have to fight them with your pets so you can capture them. At least that's how we think this will work. There is a special cursor for that too...

For the moment there is no default button or shortcut for Pets Journal. You'll have to check the key bindings list and add one yourself. Look for "Toggle Companion Journal".

The Companions Journal is far from finished and most of the pets have no skills at all. Well, at least they don't have skills at level 0. You can preview the pets, you can select them, so you can make your fighting team, but that's about it. Those pets who have some available skills are rare and their skills have no description or tooltip.
All the pets I had were usable and I could add them to the team, but as far as I know now all of them are going to become fighters.
The Pet Journal UI is going to help you to locate other pets too, by directing to them and teaching you how to find them. Unfortunately that feature is still too young to be tested.

Something interesting is that even I have most of the in-game pets, there are still about 200+ that I am missing. We should expect some looong pet farming months.

Apparently there will be a special tab for the Pet Battles on the Achievements UI, but currently is empty.

Account wide pets! Yes, you read it right. The pets are account wide now and you can practically own every pet now. No more faction pets.
