In my opinion, the most interesting faction is The Tillers. This faction and the way their reputation works is new to WoW and I think it would be a good place to start and try to tell you as much as we were able to find out about them.
The basics principles for their reputation are the same: you complete some quests for them and those reward you with reputation for The Tilers. However, the Friendship system is a new mechanic that will affect your reputation gains and the quests for this faction.
The story behind this is that you have to help Farmer Yoon take care of his farm, which actually feels like your own farm if you ask me. Yes, this is the part where you build your own farm from scratch and harvest your own vegetables.
Farming
If you’re interested in becoming a farmer you should level up to 90 and go see Farmer Yoon. Well, you could start tilling at level 86, but I feel that is a bit of a waste, because you wont get any reputation for your work. Either way, Yoon will introduce you to this new activity and will learn you everything you need to know about farming.
At the beginning you'll have to clean the place by removing rocks and then use the revealed soil squares to plant seeds. Your farm will be upgraded gradually as you build up reputation with The Tillers and friendship with their NPCs.
To start farming, you'll need seeds which can be bought from Merchant Greenfield. There are normal seeds, Blossom Tree seeds, and lastly there are special seeds, only available at higher reputation levels.
The normal seeds help you with lots of cooking ingredients, as they are mostly just vegetables. The blossom tree seeds will reward you with vanity items and the special seeds will reward you with profession materials.
There are also ‘super’ special seeds like Ominous Seed that will reward you with a cute companion, Terrible Turnip. You can use that little fellow for pet battles if you like. I found this particular seed while I was picking my vegetables, but I'm sure there are more special seeds out there to discover
After you plant your seeds you'll have to protect your your plant to help it grow. There is a lot of vermin out there, such as birds, bugs, and bad vines and weeds. You'll have to kill the vermin and the birds, repel the pests, water the dry soil, pull out the bad weed... real farming business, heh.
Your crop should be harvested within 24 hours. I have no idea what will happen to the plants if you do not harvest them.
As I mentioned before, your farm will gain upgrades as you improve your reputation with the Tillers.
- You'll get more soil squares (by the look of the place you'll have around 16 in the end)
- You'll get an irrigation system, a pest repellent system and mass till device
Short example on how the farm looks like and how you can use it.
The Friendship System
There are 10 NPCs that you can gain "friendship" with. Friendship is similar to reputation, but the 42000 points you need from neutral to exalted are divided differently here into 6 segments of 8400 friendship each.
The friendship levels are:
- Stranger: 0 to 8400
- Acquaintance: 8400 to 16800
- Buddy: 16800 to 25200
- Friend: 25200 to 33600
- Good Friend: 33600 to 42000
- Best Friend: 42000 to 42999
Each NPC likes certain things, most of the times food, so you can surprise them daily with their favourite food and if you are lucky to find the ideal gift for them by searching the piles of Dark Soul found around that area, they will become pretty friendly with you. They are some materialistic fellows...
Where the food gift quests are daily, the quests with the special items work as many times as you like per day as long as you find those items.
The rewards for increasing the friendship levels with these NPCs are various. For example, Jogu the Drunk wont charge you anything for his best crop of the day prediction and Sho will mail you the Red Cricket pet.
The daily quests reward you with gold, 5 valor points and charms. Those charms, can be used for the Elder Charms of Good Fortune quest and will help you with the looting rolls.
Beside the rewards, these NPCs will cast a vote for your farm and that will help you grow.
I know a lot of people are against this farming system, but there are also those who really like the idea. Which side are you on and why?

The new expansion brings so many new things, and it will take a while to decide what you like and what you don't. Sometimes, it doesn't work out the way you think. For example, pet battles. When I first read about that, I thought it was the daftest idea ever, but I tried it out on the beta and it's actually a lot of fun.
I would humbly suggest that people approach these things with an open mind and decide for themselves what they like and what they don't.
Just my $0.02
Your crop can be harvested the day after, not sure if after the midnight or after server reset (3AM?).
"...and if you are lucky to find the ideal gift for them by searching the piles of Dark Soul found around that area..."
the gift can be found in the crop itself.
the crop usually net you just whatever you have planted, so you plant a pumpkin seed and you'll earn 5 pumpkins, however, crop can occasionally net you a special crop and you could get extra mats, like 8 pumpkins, it could return you the seed, and occasionally I have received one of the rare items to use as gift. the percentage is pretty low but that bad, I must have farmed maybe 15/20 days and earned 3 of these rare items.
For example, the farms will develop slowly, but by the look of it it wont take too long to get exalted to Tillers and to have a 4x4 farm.
Yeap from what i recall the loot gets distrubuted and then u use the Gold Coin for some extra loot if u are lucky. the momment the loot gets dropped u use the gold coin
The gold coin loot is different then any kind of loot
The loot is distributed u use ur coin and if u are lucky u get an item when u use the coin that's all loot u need of course btw
Crops normally ripen by the next day (after midnight server time). However, you can get a special crop in a plot that ripens right away. You can even replant the plot you just harvested.
There is an NPC who will predict what crops will yield more the next day. You can pay him 10g to do the prediction. Once you become Best Friends (equivalent to exalted) he will do it for free.
