Blizzard's off to DreamHack!
SourceDreamHack Winter is back, and Blizzard Entertainment will be there! We've partnered with TeliaSonera to give this year's attendees a chance to play Blizzard's upcoming StarCraft II and the recently released World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
You'll find us next to the DreamArena, where Blizzard representatives will be on hand to answer questions, chat with players, and demonstrate the games. We'll also be running several contests featuring great prizes, including the Lich King's legendary sword Frostmourne -- though don't be surprised if Arthas himself shows up to try to stop you from winning.
This year's DreamHack Winter takes place from 27 to 30 November at Elmia in Jönköping, Sweden. For more information on the event, visit the DreamHack website. We look forward to seeing you there!

SourceNewcomer's Challenge Participants were given a task usually combining questing and racing (on foot) to complete it ahead of the others. The final involved doing certain early quests in Elwynn Forest, then finding the hidden Blizzard person in Stormwind and hand over the quest rewards.
1st place: Alexander F
2nd place: Martin S
3rd place: Xinri F
Levelling contest Qualifying rounds with 20 minutes levelling with a new character. Best scores (level and XP) from all qualifying rounds combined went to the final. In the final the characters were new Death Knights, and the given time 30 minutes.
1st place: Sebastian T, level 56, 88117 XP, proud owner of a Frostmourne replica!
2nd place: Adam G, level 56, 66248 XP
3rd place: Christoffer A, level 56, 64177 XP
4th place: Pierre W, level 56, 63644 XP
We've had some great (and busy) days at DreamHack and met a lot of ethusiastic players. Hundreds have participated in the contests, and the Wrath of the Lich King and StarCraft II PCs have been fully occupied pretty much all the time. Judging by the Lich King's popularity as he walked through the venue, the ranks of Death Knights should double or triple soon.
We hope those who have visited us here have enjoyed it as much as we did. We're about the close down the gaming areas now, and start on the trip home, but maybe we'll see each other again.

Archavon Encounter Changes
SourceDue to the high quality of the items attainable through the Archavon encounter in Wintergrasp, we are going to be making some changes. To keep the encounter in line with the rewards, we have changed the Raid Lock from a 3-day to a 7-day timer. Additionally, we have raised Archavon’s hit points, in heroic, to keep the quality of item on par with the challenge of the encounter.
Blast Wave knocking back other tanks
SourceWe understand the problem here and have heard it from many players, especially tanks. The knockbacks can be useful when leveling or in PvP, but they do annoy some dungeon and raid groups.
We are talking about adding minor glyphs to the spells with knockback effects. They would add some small benefit, cooldown reduction perhaps, in return for removing the knockback.
Four Horsemen Chest
SourceWe're not happy with the need for everyone in the raid to individually open a dungeon and raid chest to grab their badge inside, and currently examining possibilities for making this easier.
Violet Hold Changes?
SourceI'm examining possible solutions for how to get players who die and release back into the event area. What seems simple in concept can sometimes be really tricky to implement.

SourceAchievementsPlayer achievements and statistics are now viewable on Armory character profiles. These new pages are designed to appear and function much like their corresponding interface in-game, with some additional features unique to the Armory.
- To navigate between categories, simply click on the category or subcategory name on the left-side menu.
- The ability to compare achievements and statistics between multiple characters is expanded to allow you to compare up to four characters, even across realms.
- To compare multiple characters, simply click the tab labeled “Add Character to Compare” at the top right of the Achievements or Statistics interface. Enter the name and realm of the character you wish to compare to the one you are currently viewing. The second character’s portrait and achievements will appear next to the original one. You can add multiple characters in this manner, and can compare up to four characters at one time.
Wrath of the Lich King: Armory Design ChangesThe Armory has undergone changes to its design, affecting its overall look and functionality. Here are some of the notable changes:
- The main Armory page now has a new, more streamlined look. A news feed displays recent Armory news as well as region-first achievements. After logging in, the news feed also displays realm-first achievements on the main character’s realm.
- Armory logins now persist for two weeks before expiring, and closing the Armory window no longer logs out of the Armory.
- New drop-down menus under the main search field direct you to common search categories, such as for Arena rewards from a particular season, items from tradeskills such as gems and glyphs, and so on.
