Patch 5.2: Isle of Giants

Everyone was talking about the Isle of the Thunder lately, even us, because most of the new addidtions of 5.2 are going to happen there.

Thing is, that’s not the only area added to the game in patch 5.2. The Isle of Giants is a new island, north of Kun-Lai Summit, inhabited mainly by huge dinosaurs. Keep in mind that this island is a no-fly area as well as the Isle of the Thunder.

As far as I could see, there is no quest or anything leading you there, but I bet most of the mounts collectors are going to spend a lot of time killing those big dinosaurs that inhabit the island.

The Bone-White Primal Raptor

Reins of the Bone-White Primal Raptor is one of the mounts that will require a lot of farming. Here is how everything goes.

Each of those big lizards of the island, drop Giant Dinosaur Bones. In the only cave of this island there is a toll named Ku’Ma, The Bone Collector. This guy is going to buy your bones. I really have no idea what is he using them for, but he needs lots of them. Based on your bones collected this guy will reward you with your Bone-White Primal Raptor

Here if what you can get for those bones:

So, here is what you should know about this farming business before you even start farming. Each dinosaur will drop between 1 and 9 bones and they are stacking up to 500. The mobs are having 3 to 10 million hp. They are soloable, but it still needs some time.

You’ll also find some friendly faces on that isle and they will try helping you as best as they can, but it’s still up to you when it comes to killing those huge reptiles. The trolls inhabiting that island, even if they are only a handful, are just there to stand in your bones farming way way.

Keep in mind that this is still PTR we are talking about and things could change drastically.

The Primal Raptors

While farming for those bones we just told you about, you’ll have the chance on looting a Primal Egg. Those eggs will take three days to hatch into a raptor mount if you are lucky. If you remember the eggs from Sholazar Basin, the ones from Oracles, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. You’ll need a lot of patience with these things.

Anyhow, this time you have the chance of getting three mounts out of these eggs:

The interesting part of these eggs, is that no matter how much you farm you can only have one every three days, because these things are unique. So you wont be able to loot more than one.

Here are a few screenshots taken while exploring that place. It sure looks great, even if its inhabitants are not so friendly.

Now tell us, are you going to farm those bones? Or are you just use that area for some PvP kills?

someone, somewhere hasn’t thought the maths through :-)

9 bones for a mote of harmony

99 for a spirit of harmony.

    But don’t 10 motes make a spirit?

10mil hp for a mob with a 1 in 10,000 chance to get a mount?  I think I’ll stay with farming honor in bgs.
