Howdy everybody,

I've just joined today upon hearing about the contest you guys are throwing, but in a way it's good that I found your website. I've been looking for a smaller WOW-fansite community for a while, as some of the larger ones intimidate me quite badly, heh.

I figured I should just pop in and introduce myself. I'm Praetorian, I just liked that nickname, plus most people who know me online know me by it, and I hope to be able to offer some good posts and opinions/advice during my stay here.

Also, I brought cake and pie. No fighting, now.

Sincerely,

Praetorian

Welcome Prae! Glad to have another member aboard! We're definitely not a big community, but Lucifer works very hard to keep things running smoothly and all our active members are great conversation, if you come up with an intriguing topic.

Take off your shoes, kick your feet up and stay a while! :)

Thank you for the welcome Neirin! A community on a forum is just like a guild...if it get too big it gets too impersonal. I like that it is a small community...we can get to know others better, I find.

And I'm working on that intriguing topic...right now i'm still kicking myself over not getting into beta with the official forums and their RNG, which hates me so. :P

So, thank you. :)

Yeah, I love smaller groups. Largest guild I've ever been in capped out around 30 active members, and I started to find guild chat too busy to keep up with everyone.

I also think it's about time someone finally fixed that RNG... Something like taking out the numbers 1 to 99 ^^

Hah, agreed...I figured that I'd have more luck in contests then facing 15 million+ players on the Blizzard RNG...haha. But really, I do want to get in there and hard-test the game for bugs and such. I mean I love to find bugs and help remove 'em. Why I'm getting into computer programming IRL.

And yeah...when I get in guilds that are above 35 people I just feel too impersonal. Same with forums. Though I see Lucifer has done a great job with maintaining these forums and this site, so hats off to you Lucifer!

Yeah, I've noticed contests seem to be really rough for Lucifer to run. Our community here is split between the US and EU regions, and soooo many of the contest prizes Blizzard gives to its fansites are region-locked, so only half the community has a chance to win at a time. It seems to me that there are more EU region prizes, which might be because that's Lucifer's region (or it might just be 'cause I'm in the US region and notice when I don't qualify more than when I do =D)

I do love squashing bugs, though <3 PTRs, betas, it's all tons of fun for me. I get a tremendous sense of satisfaction at knowing I helped make the game (program, site, anything that can have bugs, really) better for everyone who uses them :)

Lucifer is very dedicated to this site. He works quite hard, and he's very quick about handling any issues (ranging from bad ads to forum bugs to rep changes in-game). He probably doesn't get nearly as much appreciation as he deserves <3

(Driving a friend to the bus station. I'll be back in 40 or 45 minutes, if you're still around ^^)

First of all, yes I'll be here. ^^

Secondly, I do realize a large portion of contests are region-specific, and that's cool. It adds variety as most of Blizzard's contests are US specific..and I mean the country too. As a Canadian player it's hard to not even be able to enter a contest when you live only one country up. :P

And I can tell he is very dedicated to the site, and I see the site quality is wonderful, really. It flows very smoothly and I notice no bugs or anything of the sort. I think he did a wonderful job on it and continues to. It looks quite professional, and I am not brown-nosing here, to coin a phrase. I'm not impressed easily by websites.

So that's just my thoughts. ^^

Welcome aboard Praetorian and good luck with the beta keys giveaway ;)

And Neirin, this contest became world-wide now :D Is not EU only for once :P
We'll try to create more contests like this in the future, we always wanted. Maybe with a bit of help from Blizzard, like this one, other WoW websites or with no help at all... but we just have to find something to give a as a prize :P

Yeah, I'm also Canadian, so I know how it goes... I've always been sad I can't get that WoW credit card that gives game time as a reward. That would be TONS more useful than the "reward points" on my current credit card :P

Though I do like the Arena Tournament as a Canadian player. Getting my Murkimus cost me the price of printing two pages, an envelope and a 60ish cent stamp :P

Yeah, I'd seen that these codes weren't region-locked! It's quite refreshing to see Blizzard able to give everyone a chance :)

As I said, I know how much you've worked on the contests that you have run in the past, and it's not your fault when Blizzard can only provide region-locked prizes. Even if I don't have a chance to win an EU prize, it's always still fun to see the contests going on
