Every year, during holidays or vacations, every guild master has to find a solution to keep the guild running. Everyone has some messed up schedule. Some people want to raid or run rated battlegrounds, while others want/have to visit a bunch of relatives and friends or attend the new year parties.
This is not a topic about real life vs. gaming, I just want to know what is going on with your own guild. It doesn't matter if you are an actual guild master or if you are a simple social player, let us know what's going on and how the guild schedule looks like during the holidays.
Here is what I could see, from previous years. This is happening most of the time:
Everyone is taking a break
I guess that's what I saw most of the time. Everything is scheduled to get back on track on a given date and everyone is "ordered" to go and have fun however they want.
Raiding changes
Either the raid days are reduced, like 1-2 raids per week, or the raids are going from 25 men to 10 men raids. This usually happens if there are enough people that are willing to raid during the break.
No more premades/raids
Raiders start running more dungeons or they will start using the LFR and PvPers will run more random battlegrounds. That's pretty much what people do when they still want to play but their guild mates or in-game friends are gone.
Alts Alts Alts
Yeah, some players will simply forget about their mains during the holidays and start leveling or gearing up their alts.
People start leaving
Some players aim for the progress no matter what and when something like a holiday happens, they start leaving and they attempt to join some other guilds. Usually this ends up in diaster because not only their guild has to deal with a new schedule, but these players usually end up guildless or something close to that.
Whatever you are choosing to do, keep in mind that this is a season of joy and happiness. It doesn't matter if your friends are not available in-game or if your parents are forcing you to visit some strange relative of yours... Just take a break and use this time to do whatever you feel like doing.
Do not get mad on people who are not able to play because of whatever given reason. Enjoy your free time, and if you have nothing else to do, do something for yourself or for your guild.
Have a great new year party everyone!
